Day...oh, whatever!

I have no idea what day we're on at this point!  :-)  We don't have internet at home and they haven't been able to work on the house in several days due to waiting on things like a bathtub, front door, counters, etc.  

However, my tub came in yesterday--and is currently sitting in my bedroom, which I find amusing.  Anyway--they have cut a nice, big hole in my bathroom floor in anticipation of moving some plumbing over to fit the new tub.  They should finish up the plumbing today or tomorrow, then put in the bathroom floors.  Carpet is next week, as are counters.  Then touch up work, and I guess that will be it.  Oh, my front door--that will be one of the last things before touch up work.

Day Nineteen

No work on the house today because we're waiting for the new tub to come in.  But we had a great day with friends, so we still enjoyed the day. :-)

Day Eighteen

Today they grouted my shower and hauled away a load of trash.  (I also sold the old bathtub!)  No pics since you can't really tell a difference in pictures.

Finally--pics of something other than the house!  I just barely stopped short of bribery--although that was my next move!  These are SOOC because I don't have PSE on this computer--I had the trial version, but I think it has expired.

Day Seventeen

Today they worked a bit on painting, but that was it.  No pics because things look pretty much the same.

On a side note, I was going to try to take pictures of something besides the house, so I asked for volunteers, but couldn't find any--I was offered someone's dog, and the neighbor's kids (that we don't even know).  *sigh*

Day Sixteen

They finished the floors in the dining room yesterday, then when I got home last night, there were a bunch of guys painting.  They were here until about 10:30--poor guys looked tired!  They painted the dining room and did some touch-up work. Here are pics:

Day Fifteen

OK--two more pics until he finishes with the floor for the day.  This is the utility room and the kitchen--the floors were dry, so I was able to walk into the kitchen to get a better view.

Days Fourteen and Fifteen

Saturday and yesterday they worked on tile.  When I got home last night, they had finished the tile in the kitchen and hall bathroom, and they had been working on the shower in our bathroom.  

Today, a guy is working on the living room floor.  I'll take pics when he's done.  I'm hoping I can also go in the kitchen to get a better view of the cabinets.

Days Twelve and Thirteen

Yesterday they worked more on staining and painting.  I've heard the cabinets look great, but I haven't seen them yet.  We still don't have internet at home, but once I get pics, I'll post them next time we're at M's parents' house.  (I know you are all just on the edge of your seat waiting to see what my cabinets look like!  ;-)  )

Rumor has it that the tile guy was supposed to start working on my shower today--but no one has been by to see it since this morning, when no one was there.  Floors should start to go in as early as Monday.  

I think I'm starting to see a light at the end of the tunnel!!

Day Eleven

Today was another big day!!  Today, they put in my new ballisters (that I LOVE!) and worked on prepping things to paint and stain.  I think they may have done some more sheetrock stuff (did I mention that seems to be a never-ending thing??  poor guys!).  They also ripped up the carpet from the stairs and hall upstairs.  When I left a little while ago, they were starting to stain the cabinets and painting some trim.  WOO HOO!  They are restaining the mantel over the fireplace and I LOVE the color it's going to be!  No more yellow--a rich, beautiful, warm reddish-brown.  Ahhhhhh!

I find this odd, but today I felt like they were digging my house out of the mess--almost like more of an excavation that a rebuild.  Not sure why.  ???

Day Ten

Yesterday was a big day!  They were here until after midnight!!  

They:

• took out the ballisters (see photos)
• put up the crown molding and baseboards
• hung the doors
• put shelves in the closets
• finished the sheetrock

Woo hoo!!  :-)

Day Nine

OK--no pics today since I'm not going to be at home long enough this evening--not to mention the fact that we don't have internet at home!

They smoothed the floors in preparation for tile and continued working on taping and floating, taping and floating.  

I haven't been home since before lunch, so I'm not sure what else they may have accomplished today.

Days 7 and 8

Sunday they didn't do anything on the house--works for me.  Everyone needs a break!  

Yesterday, they got back to work though.  They did some more sheetrock work (which seems never-ending to me!) and got started on the texturing.  Also, the doors were delivered, except the front door.  So, progress. :-)

Day Six

I haven't been home at all today--needed a break!  We are spending the weekend at my inlaws' house.  M went by there and said they didn't do much today--maybe a little taping and floating.  Looks like they needed a break, too--I can understand that!  I'm sure things will get moving again Monday!

Day Five

No pics today--just too busy (lazy??).  They did some taping and floating of the walls, and they did fix the holes in my bathroom ceiling and move the light switch.  So, things continue to progress.  Oh, we also chose the tile for our bathroom and the color for the cabinets in there.  The owner told us today that since we have added a number of things to what we want them to do, naturally it will take a bit longer--another week or week and a half.  So, that would put us somewhere around the first week of February.

I'm hoping we can go pick out faucets and such tomorrow now that we've decided what color we want.

Day Four

Not to worry--they're going to fix it and you won't even be able to tell they just put six new holes in my ceiling and wall.  And before they get to that, they're not going to put the light switch in that hole in the wall--they're going to make another one where they're REALLY going to put the light switch.

I must admit, I wasn't very happy when I saw these holes--but these guys really are doing a good job and I'm sure they'll do whatever it takes to fix this and make us happy.

Day Three

Today was cabinet day!!  All of my cabinets were installed this morning--and they're beautiful!  They aren't stained yet, but they will be soon.  The other thing they did was work on taping and floating the sheetrock--not glamorous or exciting, but necessary.

We met with the builder today and picked out flooring--fast and furious!!

Day Two

No pics from today.  There wasn't the flurry of activity today but still steady progress.  They did a bit more sheetrock, lots of plumbing stuff, lots of talking about what's coming up and making some decisions.  Tomorrow the cabinet guy is going to install the cabinets--ALL of them are ready!  I'm in awe!  So, there will be major progress tomorrow.

Day One

These guys made HUGE progress today!!  We started out with a mess--they gutted it this morning, then by quitting time, I had sheetrock on ALL my walls!  WOO HOO!

Day Zero

OK--here it is.  This is how our house currently looks.  I'm so excited that they're starting in the morning I can hardly stand it!  How will I ever get to sleep tonight??
